Traveling and the Lack of Options
No matter how much planning you do before traveling, it’s always difficult to keep up with the workout routine familiar to you on the road.
Working out while traveling can be problematic because of the limited options you have when making travel accommodations.
Not every gym is available after hours and many don’t have sufficient equipment for very specific exercises.
What should busy folks do when there’s only a few options to work out and very little time?
What Kind of Workouts Are Needed When Traveling?
If you make arrangements to workout while traveling, you may have to use spaces that are more confined or restricted than you’re used to. To avoid delaying exercise until you return from your trip, you should take advantage of this time by getting a quality workout inside your room.
A gym isn’t always necessary to burn fat or build muscle. All that’s really required is a space that’s wide enough for you to make a snow angel and ceilings high enough to outstretch your arms without touching the walls.
In my e-book How to Get Ripped From Anywhere in 30 Minutes, I mention why compound movements were the most efficient for fast muscle growth in comparison to isolation movements and should be the main focus of your workouts.
This means that compound exercises like pushups and weighted dips get more results than smaller movement exercises like biceps curls or triceps extensions.
Compound movements exercise large groups of muscle within a very small frame of time. Workouts that last longer than 45 minutes tire your muscles quickly and start to become more ineffective.
To perform compound exercises while traveling, you’ll only need a few pieces of equipment. My recommendation: a smart shirt, push bars, resistance bands, a smart watch, a tape measure, and a motion sensor (to maintain your exercise form):

The Wrap Up
It’s never convenient to work out while you’re traveling, but you can make exercise a priority when you plan ahead of time. Rather than relying on travel accommodations for your fitness needs, it’s smarter to travel with some workout gear of your own when you need to avoid the gym.
